Delicious Bites
I truly enjoy going out for dinner and I love to try new restaurants. West Hartford is definitely a great place to eat no matter what kind of food you are looking for. I want to share my experiences with restaurants in this area and I hope you will too!

I was only at avert one time but I was surprisingly impressed. I thought it was going to be a stuffy French restaurant, but it was quite the opposite. My husband and I went there on New Year's eve with some other friends and we found the atmosphere to be very modern and inviting. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. I had the ham and cheese croquet which ran about $16, pretty good even for New Year' Eve! There was a good selection of beer on tap and the bar was beautiful. I would definitely return to Avert.

Bricco is definitely one of my favorites at WH center. It has great atmosphere and when the weather is warm, it is a great place to sit outside. There is also a beautiful bar to meet up with friends and have a drink (I recommend the Angeline Pinot Noir). The food is exceptional and there is a good variety of dishes to choose from. Sometimes if I am not in the mood for a pasta dish, I will get the goat cheese salad and their wonderful antipasto tray. If you have not tried Bricco yet, please do. You will not be disappointed!

I have been to Max's Oyster bar twice to eat and once just to have drinks at the bar. When you go there you will feel like you are in New York City. The atmosphere and the décor of the restaurant is like no other I have been to in CT. The bar is also one of the most beautiful I have seen. As you would expect, the quality of the foods and drinks are exceptional. This Max's specialized mostly in seafood and shellfish, although there is a limited selection of meat. If this cuisine is not your preference, at least have a drink at the bar. It is quite an experience!

Grant's is another restaurant that makes you feel like you are in New York City. They too have a beautiful bar and make fantastic drinks (I recommend the flirtini). I enjoy going there for happy hour because the food they offer during this time is so delicious. My favorites are the roasted brussel sprouts, house made potato chips topped with gorgonzola, and the sesame chicken bites. For dinner, the filet mignon with mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach is to die for. This restaurant is a great place whether you are celebrating a special occasion or just want to hang out with friends.

The atmosphere at BarTaco is much different than some of the other restaurants in WH center. When I go there I feel like I'm in Key West or some other exotic Caribbean location. The cuisine is has a Mexican flair and is tapas style which is great because you can try a lot of different things all at once. I like the Baja fish tacos, shrimp ceviche, chipotle slaw, and grilled corn with lime, cayenne and cotija cheese. I ordered a margarita one time and was disappointed with it (This could have been because it was during happy hour though). Overall, I really enjoy going to BarTaco and there is a great place to eat outside in the spring and summer!

Max Burger is another favorite of mine. I have been there many times and have never had a bad meal. In addition to the creative gourmet burgers, they have great salads too. They also have a beer that is made special for the Max restaurant group called Brewtus Maximus from T.J. Hooker Brewery. Sometimes my husband and I go for a walk at WH reservoir then stop over to Max Burger for some appetizers and beer at the bar.
